Buckle: Wayne Jewelers. Straps: Brooks Brothers

Few things in a man’s wardrobe are as versatile, essential and practical as an engraved monogrammed belt buckle.  They are classic, elegant and badass.  They can easily be dressed up or dressed down; worn with anything from a suit to jeans.    Buckles can be had in both silver and gold, start with a silver engine turned one like that pictured above.   Straps can be had in most shades of brown, black and oxblood (burgundy).  A few things must be kept in mind when purchasing buckles and straps.  First, make sure the strap is not too wide for the buckle.  Second, make sure the belt is thick enough so that the buckle does not slide along the strap, causing your belt to become loose.  Third, have the proper cleaning materials for your buckle, as sterling silver will tarnish.

Buckles can be found at Tiffany’s, Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, J. Press, Trafalgar and some local establishments like Wayne Jewelers for around $200.  Belt straps can be found at Brooks Brothers and Trafalgar for $50-90.

  1. Clearly this is an east coast only blog. I don’t think they let you west of the Mississippi with loafers no socks or monagramed belt buckle. But entertaining nonetheless.
