The Best Shoe Shine In NYC?

There’s a new kid in town and lucky for all of you NYC folk, this kid gives perhaps what is the best shoe shine in NYC.  It likely will not come as a surprise to many of you when I say that I have trust issues with my wardrobe.  That is, I am rather particular with who I let care for my clothing; whether it be dry cleaners, tailors, shoe shiners or other.   Given my lack of knowledge on how to clean and alter my own suits I am forced to have others do that for me.  I do, however, shine my own shoes.  Part of this it out a lack of trust in others to do it well and with the best materials and part because I find it rewarding and therapeutic to do it myself.

But there are exceptions, from time to time I am not in a position to do it myself so I enlist the services of others.  To say the list is short would be an overstatement.

For the past few seasons at MRket and other special events I have found solace in the services of the good people at A Shine & Co (who happen to be at the top of that previously mentioned short list).  But unfortunately, until recently, they had no outpost on Manhattan, just JFK airport and special events.  But that has changed.  A Shine & Co just opened a small stall in the Chelsea Market (just outside Decatur And Sons barbershop and right down from the waterfall).

Kevin, KeaLani and the others who staff the ASaC booths almost exclusively use products from Saphir, which unarguably makes some of the best shoe cleaning and polishing substances out there.  The prices may be about twice what you are used to here in the city (they start at $10 and go up to $25 depending on the line of Saphir products you want used); but the level of service, knowledge and experience justifies the cost.  At least as far as I am concerned.  And as I said, you will likely be getting the best shoe shine in NYC.  So if you ever find yourself in need or in the area, I do recommend you stop by.

Shine on,

JLJ
