Quite frankly, Chris Cox has done a solid job thus far of righting the sinking ship that was the Nautica brand of a few years ago. That is, judging by what I’ve seen of this most recent and the past few collections. Although not everything is to my style (which is a subjective criticism) and some pieces a bit too trendy for me, the fall/winter 2013 collection had some seriously good looks, the obvious inspiration being the sporting lifestyle of the ski slopes. But those damn the meggings, they should be incinerated.
As was the case at General Idea earlier in the day, color blocking is still a prevalent trend. I tend to favor chunky knits so any of those pieces caught my attention, especially the jacket like one in the 8th photo below. And I love fur collars. I am not sure if I am angry or flattered that Mr. Cox adorned multiple pieces with a fur collar. The reason being because I chose to adorn one of my parkas with a coyote fur collar (to be discussed later) and I somewhat liked the idea of being pretty much the only guy rocking such a jacket. But perhaps the best part of the show was that it opened with a remix of Nine Inch Nails’ Discipline (my favorite band). Check above and below for some of the standouts from the show.
