Things I Wear: Suits & Shearling

Yesterday marked the first day of my fashion week activities and the day was kicked off by attending the Duckie Brown show, which was, as always very well done and very interesting.  Anyway, never one to under dress I thought a suit most appropriate for the day.

I chose a mid gray 3-piece suit from Indochino for the basis of the ensemble.  Under the suit I wanted a little bit of color so I went with a pink check shirt with contrasting white collar and cuffs from MyTailor to keep things formal.  The tie is a silk and wool blend tan polka dot from Ralph Lifshitz and the shoe are brown suede cap toes from Septieme Largeur.  I often dislike wearing black shoes, especially when not in a business setting so when wearing a gray suit I usually resort to brown suede or oxblood shoes.  They work just as well.  What you cannot see are pink socks to tie with the shirt, cufflinks from Rotenier and a brown and blue pocket square.  Oh and that ridiculously warm jacket I am wearing is shearling from Paley.

Liz Landers from the Daily Front Row is the girl in the photo; her jacket is from some type of lamb if memory serves me right.  Edmondo is the gentleman, in the two times I have met him he has managed to pull off some absurd outfits that on anyone else would not work, but on him work very well.  His blue jacket is a designers take on a morning dress jacket, I love that blue color.  But my favorite part of his outfit were his studs from Seamann & Schepps, they were mother of pearl with saphire inlays.  Thanks to Muriel at It’s Pretty Perfect for the photo.

  1. The brand name is “Ralph Lauren,” not “Ralph Lifshitz.” Sorry, but Ralph himself didn’t design your tie.

    • Confused,
Ralph himself certainly did not design the tie, however, I wouldn’t be surprised if he at least looked at and reviewed the tie. And I often call him and his brand by the last name Lifshitz, as that was his birth name. And for the record, I love that tie.

  2. Looking great, all three of you! LOVE Liz’s glasses, and your Paley is beautiful. I can almost feel the shearling from here! The deconstructed morning jacket is mesmerizing! Keep up the good work!
